As is the writer’s way, I submitted both of my books into The Writer’s Digest eBook Contest for commentary and evaluation. The judges came back with a favorable review on When Mommies Cry. I thought I would share with you their feedback.
Losing a baby is one of the most difficult journeys for a woman. Unfortunately, in our society, conversation surrounding the loss of a baby is faint at best. In fact, I believe, this sphere of experience is one of the most neglected groups of mourners in our culture. As my friend Carol Leatherwood once said, “It isn’t a club anyone wants to be a part of.” It was from this premise that I wrote When Mommies Cry detailing my own journey through the loss of my baby boy. If you know of anyone who has lost a baby either through miscarriage, premature birth, stillborn death, or even abortion, would you consider sharing my story with her? Perhaps healing and reconciliation can come from your generous heart.

Judge’s Commentary*: A gripping story, told with bravery and depth via the author’s gentle and relatable writing voice. ‘As grief stole pieces of his mind and heart’ is one example of the author’s talent for phrasing, and there are some truly gorgeous gems in this book. Excellent dialogue throughout. The author, in sharing healing insights, lets us feel her evolution and gives us take-aways that we can apply to our own challenges. I liked this very much. It has layers in most sections. Well done.
Just as a reminder, both of my books are currently on sale for 25% off the regular price. I hope you will reach out to those who have lost babies or even find comfort for yourself through my story if you have suffered this loss.
