We had a wonderful time at the Dogwood Festival in Palestine, Texas this weekend. It was a beautiful day and hundreds of people came out and visited The Heart of a Woman booth. A big shout out to Stephanie for organizing such an exceptional event. Also, a huge thank you to Jean with the Redlands Historic Hotel for her hospitality and in-depth knowledge of Palestine’s history.
In A Life Worth Remembering, my Aunt Billie grew up in Palestine and much of the book details her adolescence in this fabulous East Texas town. It is evident why Palestine continues to thrive. The nicest people live there and they all have a heart of gold. Flags lined the streets as the patriotic ambiance was in the air leading us straight to the steps of the gorgeous Anderson County courthouse. Her citizens are Palestine’s claim to fame extending a helping hand to anyone in a bind. Without even asking, men and women graciously helped me with my tent and set-up. What a refreshing comfort to know that civility is alive and well in rural America!
For those who signed up for the Book Bundle, the winner was drawn today and Michelle Cadena is our winner. Michelle will receive a bundle of books including autographed copies of my two books and additional books from renown authors in the literary world. Congratulations Michelle and a huge thank you to those who entered. Your emails will be placed on my monthly distribution list and included in my monthly blog and special announcements. I look forward to getting to know you through this fantastic medium.
If you were not able to stop by The Heart of a Woman booth this weekend, be sure to visit Mary Jane’s Boutique in the Redlands Historic Hotel. Jean has graciously offered to stock A Life Worth Remembering in her store. Stay on the look-out for upcoming book signings and events in Palestine in the near future. Hope to see you then.
